Back to SCHOOL

First day of school! I'm pretty excited, but I'm sure in two weeks that will have worn off.
Three of my classes are at your own pace.. so I'm sure I'll get behind quickly! :)

Anthropology
English - Writing
Biology
American Government
Fitness for life

2 Really easy classes... and 3 hard ones. I think I can do this!

Tuition went up. $1,854 or something stupid. Financial aid said I would only be getting 3500 for the year... so might have to come up with some more.. Joy. Awesome since I can barely afford books.

I got a day off next week to go to Moab with Dad and his cousin Miriam. I'm excited. That stuff is neat!

Also, YAY FOR 3 DAY WEEKENDS.

Da Bears

Breanne is in trouble for having me read this. I've put it off this long. Just wasn't interested, but I started reading last night, and all of a sudden it was 3 in the morning. Yeah, so far I have a crush on Edward. I like these skinny pale guys.
This made me laugh. I love it :)

Another dilemma. I found a position online that my boss put open. I found it because people are calling about it the past few days. The base pay is 27k-36k for a year experience. Um... I have 4. Making 27k, and it was hard to get that out of him. I'm ticked. Showed my friend I work with, and was telling her I was thinking about printing it off to show him.... Well. She already printed it off by then. So now he'll know that we were talking about it, if we both approach him, and I don't think that will go over well. I hate getting stuck on the back burner. I wrote him an email asking him if he would consider me for the position, but really I like helping out the bonds and commercial lady. Just been so hard to train on it answering the phones all day.

MIGRAINE

I woke up yesterday with a migraine. Thought I could go to work, but ended up throwing up in the shower... so that failed. I Spent the day sleeping and watching X-Men 2, Invader Zim, and Mean Girls. I need to win the lottery just so I can do that every day.

CAR UPDATE: The tow bill ended up being $400, but that's their own fault. They resubmitted the estimate to the insurance co, $4280. which is now a little over 80% of what they say it's worth. So the guy at the shop said they'll probably lean towards totaling it out. Which would be nice. $5330. Pay off the car $3300. Then put 1000ish down on a new car. Convince mom and dad, or Ty to cosign. Preferably mom and dad again. We'll see.

WORK DRAMA: Bond lady was gone last Friday. Wednesday (before the holiday) she told me that she needed me to do a bond for her on Friday. I went up to her desk not there. So I asked my boss if he had them. "still working on it". So i told him I had an appointment at 3:30 and he needed to get it to me before that. He failed to do so. Since I was gone yesterday, I called to see if he put it on my desk. He had.... brilliant move. So I'm working on it now. He drives me nuts. The company we're doing it for called and complained yesterday, and I'll get blamed I'm sure.

The beginning of the end

The dumb adjuster called and told me that they're going to accept 100% liability. No kidding.... They towed my car to the shop, and I haven't heard anything since. The Appraiser told me he thinks the damage is estimated as $3,780. They say my car is worth $5,330, with the newer engine (27k miles). Since it's 71% damage of what the car is worth, I'm going to fight for diminished value since I'll never be able to sell the car with a salvaged title.

WISH ME LUCK.

Tomorrow is Pioneer Day. Yay for fake holidays that I get off!!!!!! Working 5 days a week is lame. I need to become a teacher so I can get summers off. Or so I can work in museums do something awesome during the summer.

I haven't decided if I want to go into history or anthropology. They go hand in hand, so I'm considering getting a teaching degree in history, and minoring, or double majoring in anthropology.

ANYWAY

I should be done pretending to work, and actually do it.

I hate cops

FINALLY the report is in. I paid the $6 fee, and received a fax telling me that they're sending the report back to the officer for more information. What did they do? Send the newest cop to the accident? 8 days now without it, and I'm NOT happy about it.

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Yes yes, but without the oops

Well was in an accident last week. The other guys insurance won't take liability until they get the police report. SEVEN DAYS LATER... still not in. Come on. God created the world in 7 days. He even rested. Why can't you fill out a piece of paper? That's right.. you're a cop.

I convinced Dad to put his credit card on for a rental car. It's nice to have a car again. I hate feeling trapped.

Well today I went to physical therapy before I came to work, and brought a change of pants. I came in at 10, and an hour later I looked down. ORANGE SWEATS!!!!!!!!! hmm. that was silly. I laughed at myself. Nobody noticed apparently. Still awesome.

Also, a lady that does all the big accounts in our office told me that her goal is to get me up near her desk (where the IMPORTANT people are) to learn commercial and bonds and not get distracted my personal lines work :D YAY. I hope it really works out.

PS.. the 4 day work weeks is probably falling through.

AND heidi lost at bunco... SUCKER.

Manager being nice? WHAT?

So two of us accidentally sent messages on MSN to our manager KINDA talking crap, but not really, and yesterday she told us that she was going to talk to our boss about something, but wouldn't tell us. So we assumed we were in trouble.

She came from the meeting and pulled the two girls that were here in personal lines into a meeting. So I was thinking... OMG I'm getting fired.

They came out and they didn't seem upset about anything, and I sent one of them a message asking what was up. She wouldn't tell me. Told me that the manager wanted to talk to me and to just go in. No biggie.

I went into a vacant office with the manager and she told me that she's trying to implement 4 day 10 hour work week for personal lines, and she expressed to our boss that even though I'm receptionist and really just considered a commercial lines assistant, that I should be included since I do so much for them. She told me that I excel at my job and it's a good position for me, and I initiate most of what I do and it's awesome that I can do that without supervision.

He told her that he needs to talk to his son (who covers the phones while I'm gone). We'd always have 2 people here to cover for personal lines, but I hope if he decides to do it, he'll include me! Since we'd have to switch off what days we got off, I think it's worth it even when we'd get a Tuesday - Thursday off. It would be nice to know what day I have to make appts and not have to make the time up or take it off as holiday/sick days.

YAY... my manager was nice to me!

People are particularly stupid today

Wow. I would really like to just take the rest of the day off. I tried to buy off the techie with $25 to say he couldn't fix the server. That would have been great.

Someone just called and told me that I gave them a quote 3 weeks ago and decided they would like to start that policy... oh uh... April 8th is 3 weeks ago? Way to drive without insurance moron.

Since I'm venting... let me explain insurance in Nika words.

A: I know it sucks, but it's necessary to protect your assets. (HA I said assets)
B: ALWAYS carry 300k liability on your home.. at least. If a mailman gets hurt on your property and sues you. Goodluck with 100k.
C: Bodily injury on your auto.... for the love. never ever ever get state minimum. In Utah it's 25k per person, 50k per accident, and 15k for property. You hit Mr special persons Viper... you really think that 15k is going to be enough to cover it? REALITY CHECK. Accidents are accidents. Just because you think it will never happen to you doesn't MEAN it will never happen to you.
D: Uninsured and Underinsured coverage. This is for bodily injury... meaning if you get hit by someone and are injured and they're not insured, your insurance will kick in for medical bills. "Oh I have good health insurance" isn't a good excuse to waive this coverage. To freaking bad that health insurance companies don't cover everything too... AND always get the same amount on this coverage as your bodily injury... Don't want to protect someone else more than you are protecting yourself. That's just silly.
E: When you call an insurance place, don't complain that Mr. Joe's office down the street got you a better deal, and that we should be able to do the same. Just remember that every vehicle, person, coverage, etc etc is rated differently with every company. Just because they got you a great deal doesn't mean someone else won't be able to do better in two years.
F: flood and earthquake insurance is a little excessive, until you are in that situation. Look at what you own and decide if it's worth the extra 500-1000 a year to protect yourself if something unexpected happens. Remember that outside water leaking in, whether it be from rain... snow... a river, won't be included on your normal home policy. you'll have to ask for it separately.
G: ALSO, when you're calling your insurance agent, remember that she's cute and awesome just like me, and to be nice... and lying is stupid. If you lie to your agent about something because you don't want to pay a little more... hope you don't get stuck with problems with the insurance co not paying out for a claim because you didn't disclose that a 17 year old is living in your home driving your cars.... or your fireplace... trampoline... etc
H: If you own a couple of cars and a home... I would suggest getting an umbrella policy. i think 1 mill is the lowest you can get. They usually require really high limits on liability, but it's good if you hit that viper... or kill someone.
I: Another word of advice. scan receipts for big items and email them to yourself, so if there's a fire you can prove you paid 10k for your couch. Also, take pictures of your furniture and clothes and do the same thing. If you want to replace all of your clothes after a fire, better be able to prove you had 50 shirts. DON'T KEEP CASH IN YOUR HOUSE. You're basically hosed if there's a fire.
J: AND LAST OF ALL... don't get mad at me if your insurance lapses. You get the notices. It's not my job to babysit you and make sure you read your mail.... and don't pay your comcast bill instead of your insurance one...Learn2growup.

K I R DONE!

PS GO CELTICS

Strange things people tell you....

"My policy canceled. I didn't pay because I'm on medication that makes you forget things." ...what is that... meth?

"I only have one ticket." "We do pull MVR's." "Oh.. I think I might have had 3 dui's. Not sure though, and my license was suspended."

"F as in Phone."

Another story from the depths of Hell

Manager is gone until the 5th of June (YAAAAAAAAY), but we have to check her email in case she gets something from and underwriter and needs to get done. Instead she got an email from our payroll girl. Apparently our boss asked her to check and see how many sick days I've turned in, and actually have taken. HELLO! ALL OF THEM. I have the emails. I do my job. I know I only have 2 left for the rest of the year. No biggie. I have vacation time. It is funny that he asks her to check on it, when she's the one that leaves an hour early 3 times a week, and doesn't take her 30 minute lunch every day... uh you're missing a half hour there... every week. It's been over two months. I'm young so it means I'm trying to screw him. Of course.

work...

Today was awesome. I was out sick yesterday with a migraine, and my manager kept asking who our boss had given a signed application to. My manager had written the policy... even though it wasn't in her alphabet (someone else's... not mine). Since I wasn't here to say.. "no he never handed me the application." They automatically assumed that he had given it to me, and I lost it. So my boss told her to call the insured and tell them "Denika lost it, can you fill it out again." Um... I never HAD it. Jerk. He doesn't even remember who he gave it to, and if he had given it to me... I would have given it to he manager since I knew she was working on it for him. I've made mistakes at work, but I always own up to them. So, I don't know if I should write him and email, because I know he'll just ignore it and hope it goes away. Or if I face him about it, then he'll just apologize and change the subject. Or I can not say anything and be secretly pissed off all the time.

I swear the people I work for are CRAZY.

On top of it... today he was trying to get an agent to lie to an underwriter so we could write a VIP's 5 homes with Bear River.... except if they got caught the agent would lose her license because she knows the truth about the titles. If he asked me to do that, I'd tell him to stuff it. She was pissed. What a creep.

What I will do with my stimulus payment...

IRS sucks. I got a letter telling me that I was going to get my stimulus money on the 15th...... still no money. So I looked up the status online.... said it'll be deposited the 23rd.

I SURE HOPE SO. Because I'm going to build a computer! A PINK ONE. It's going to be fancy with a nice video card so my games will be pretty on my widescreen monitor. YAY!

It'll be nice with the new game that I'm playing. Age of Conan. I kill things, but it runs like crap on my current comp. YAY GAMES.

First Camping Trip of 08

For Tyler's 26th birthday, he decided he wanted to go down to Goblin Valley. It was a little chilly, but was gorgeous.
